Clinical saccade stimulation instrument

Abstract

It is very important to study saccadic system in eye movements for both clinicians and basic scientists due to their abundant neuropathological information. How to apply appropriate visual stimulation patterns on diagnosing the disease in nerve and vision efficiently has become an important topic in clinical researches. However, the present commercial stimulation instruments just provide very few and fixed patterns. The few patterns may be good for clinical diagnosis but not for the academic studies. Therefore, the techniques of computer animation, data acquisition, and database management are applied to implement an intelligent instrument that can stimulate and diagnose the saccadic system with the patterns freely set by the researchers. Doctors can design their own stimulation patterns so that the illness of the vision and nerve system can be effectively studied.
