N2 - The use of cognitive radio (CR) network to utilize the radio spectrum efficiently for providing high data rate services, is discussed. CR features the ability to dynamically sense its surrounding environment and locate unused or underutilized spectrum segments in a target spectrum pool and adapt to the real time conditions of its operating wireless channels by managing transmission parameters. It can improve the system performance through efficient utilization of the spectrum by exploiting the existence of unused or underutilized spectrum. It can be used to establish a CR network that is capable of delivering a multitude of fixed and mobile wireless services, such as voice, video streaming, and wireless Internet access. The CR network can deliver different services based on parameters specified in the service level agreement (SLA).
