Abstract
The study is aimed to investigate the effect of hydrogen addition on syngas combustion characteristics. The fuel composition of syngas, including methane, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen, was specified with identical heating value. The adiabatic flame temperature, laminar flame velocity, and extinction strain rate were determined by Chemkin collection 3.5 with GRI-Mech 3.0. The results show that the concentration of H radical is increased along with the hydrogen addition. During the combustion process, H radical which could inhibit the main reaction step of the production of carbon dioxide (R99), and produce OH radical with R38 and R46. The concentration distribution and the reaction rate at near extinction strain rate has been investigated to study the chemical effect with the hydrogen addition.
