Abstract

The use of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) for producing TiC/TiAl composite was studied. Focus was on the effects of reactant composition on the combustion synthesis of the Ti+C/Ti+Al system. Based on the results, a possible reaction mechanism was proposed.
