Abstract

With the aid of the computer, a technique has been developed to simulate the simultaneous chain scission and crosslinking reactions that are induced by ionizing radiation. These studies have been performed for both bulk and solution cured polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) systems, and the results are compared with experiment. The purpose is to demonstrate how computer model calculations can be used to great effect, even though there is very little available data to build upon.
