The overall properties of the continuous-phase turbulence generated by uniform fluxes of monodisperse spherical particles moving at near terminal velocities were studied. The relative turbulence intensities, anisotropies, and PDFs were predicted based on volume-averaged contributions of the conditional averages within the laminarlike wake disturbance and turbulent interwake regions of the flow. The predictions revealed unusual properties of the flows compared to conventional homogenous turbulent flows.
