Abstract

This paper studies methods of the dead-time compensation for permanent magnet synchronous motor drives. In this paper, several dead-time compensation methods are implemented and tested on motor drives. The total harmonic distortion is used to evaluate compensation performance. In the experiments, the compensation algorithms are implemented through a digital signal processor. Finally, the effectiveness of the dead-time compensation is verified through experiments. It is shown that PI control with a feedforward compensation lookup table has a better performance.
