Degradation behavior of rapidly quenched Y-TZP

Abstract

Tetragonal zirconia polycrystals containing 3.0 mol% Y2O3 were rapidly quenched from melts and their low temperature degradation phenomena were examined at 250°C in air. As-quenched material showed a high stability against OH- trigger which was considered as an agent of the degradation.
