Design and implementation of a DC-AC inverter with zero-voltage-switching

Abstract

In this paper, a zero-voltage switching DC-AC inverter is designed and realized. The neutral point clamped topology and fix-frequency PWM control are used in the proposed inverter to implement a single-phase DC-AC inverter. Also, an auxiliary inductor and two auxiliary switches are adopted to achieve zero-voltage switching, which can improve the inverter efficiency. In this paper, the proposed DC-AC inverter is introduced, the operational principles and the steady-state are analyzed. In addition, the neutral point clamped architecture and zero-voltage switching mechanism are described in detail. Finally, an experimental prototype with the input voltage of 720Vdc and the output of 220Vac / 2kW is implemented to verify the theoretical analysis. The experimental results show that the highest efficiency is 98.12% and the full load efficiency is 97.49%.
