Abstract

In this paper, a Control Chip implemented with FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) for Single Stage Photovoltaic (PV) Energy Conversion System is presented. Such system converts DC power generated from photovoltaic cells into AC power. FPGA chip is used for the MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) operation of photovoltaic array, and then controls the Full-Bridge inverter to converter DC power into AC power. The system can be operated either stand-alone mode or grid-connect mode. Digital technology realizations may improve the former analog circuit restriction, greatly enhances the system performance. Therefore, Spartan-II-XC2S200 FPGA chip is employed for controller design. VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) is employed as the RTL code. Finally, experimental results demonstrate the excellent performance of the proposed technique.
