Abstract

This research presents a new design and fabrication method for the novel hybrid structure tubular heat pipe (NHST heat pipe). Copper tube is made by the extrusion process using sintered copper powder on the inner wall as the capillary structure, and the rhombic copper meshes is stamped by the pre-shaped mold as the supporting structure of vapor space, the heat pipe is then shaped by flattening. The newly-designed supporting structure helps to increase the mechanical strength of the heat pipe and to shorten the reflux path of the working fluid. As shown in the experiments, the thermal resistance of the NHST heat pipe is about 72% lower than the common copper mesh screen heat pipe. Besides, the thermal resistance is about 65% lower after the supporting structure is added to the heat pipe. The result shows that the NHST heat pipe has the best performance for Photoelectric Components.
