Abstract
To improve the coupling efficiency between fibers and conventional Ti:LiNbO3 diffused channel waveguides, it is feasible that the elliptical mode pattern of the channel waveguide can be modified by the Ti/Mg double diffusion method. By means of the three-dimensional beam propagation method, we successfully show that the mode size of the waveguide fabricated by this method is well matched to that of the fiber for TE and TM polarizations separately.
