Development of a general-purpose demand-side battery energy storage system

Abstract

This paper presents a design and implementation of battery energy storage system (BESS) for general applications in demand-side power system. Different control modes for operating BESS to improve demand-side power supply capability is studied. Basic principle using the conventional control method is implemented to accomplish the desired control functions. The proposed methods are both proved by theoretical simulations and experimental test results by a prototype BESS.
