Discharge relations for compound broad-crested weirs

Abstract

Discharge relations for four kinds of compound broad-crested weirs were developed by linearly combining the empirical discharge relations of rectangular and triangular broad-crested weirs, and were compared with experimental measurements in the present paper. These four kinds of compound broad-crested weirs are rectangular-rectangular, rectangular-trapezoidal, triangular-rectangular, and triangular-trapezoidal broad-crested weirs. Comparison shows that the flow discharges over the compound broad-crested weirs calculated from the so-developed discharge relation are well close with the measured ones.
