Discrete-ordinate solutions and Monte Carlo simulation for time-resolved radiative heat transfer in two-layer media

Abstract

In this work, we analyze transient radiative heat transfer in a two-layer medium exposed to collimated radiation, where the time scale is picosecond. We adopt the discrete-ordinate method and the Monte Carlo method. The results obtained by the two methods are in excellent agreement. The results show that the time-resolved reflectance and transmittance have obvious correlation with the scattering albedo and the optical thickness.
