Abstract

An externally modulated NTSC AM-VSB erbium doped fibre amplifier (EDFA)-repeated system was presented in the 1550 nm region. It used a chirped fibre grating (CFG) as a dispersion-compensation device. Good performances of carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) and composite triple beat (CTB) were achieved for the full-channel band after a 100-km single-mode fibre (SMF) transmission. The proposed system was suitable for application to fibre optical CATV systems with long-distance transmission.
