Abstract

This paper presents a design of frequency generator which can provide ISM frequency bands at 60 GHz and 24 GHz simultaneously. This frequency generator integrated with a regenerative Miller divider is implemented in TSMC 90-nm CMOS technology. The frequency tuning range of the proposed divider covers 23.32-24.44 GHz and 58.3-61.1 GHz. The phase noise are -87.13 dBc/Hz and -93.55 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from 60 GHz and 24 GHz, respectively. The proposed frequency generator dissipates 68.7 mW from a 1.8 V supply and the chip area is 0.91 mm2. This frequency generator can be applicable to a millimeter-wave phase-locked loop (PLL) design.
