Abstract

This study reports the observation of two-beam coupling (2BC) in polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films during the formation of a holographic grating. A non-stationary grating effect causes such a coupling. Based on the model we propose for the dynamic behavior of a PDLC grating, the experimental results agree well with the 2BC theory.
