Abstract
Low temperature co-firable ceramics (LTCC) materials are desirable for the development of multilayer dielectric devices aiming for the miniaturization of microwave components. Addition of glass materials is an effective approach for lowering the sintering temperature needed for the densification of microwave dielectrics. The effects of addition of Sol-gel prepared Ba-B-Si(BBS) glass to Ba-Sm-Nd-Ti-O (BRT 114 ) ceramics were thoroughly investigated in the present work. Its microstructure and microwave dielectric properties were studied for LTCC applications using Evanescent Microprobe measurement (EMP) method. The two-step process proved to be more effective than the one-step process. In addition, the said two-step process was further optimized by addition of different wt% of Ba-B-Si glass and its sintering temperature. The 20% glass addition has revealed a superior effect on the microwave dielectric properties of the materials which have a high dielectric constant ( r ) of 63 and quality factor of 3376.
