Effect of Nozzle Design on Atomization Performance with Vibrating Mesh

Vibrating mesh atomizers are devices which employ perforated plates that generate the aerosol without heating the fluid during atomization and have been shown to be suitable for delivery of suspensions. In this study, the effect of operating conditions and nozzle design on the aerosol droplet size and output rate with vibrating mesh are investigated comprehensively. The existence of liquid film on the surface of the nozzle plate was also observed. The influence of the aperture number and the aperture size on the spray performance is discussed at a fixed frequency with different voltage. The results show the aperture size is an important parameter on nozzle design which dominate the critical condition for the injection of liquid jet. However, higher driven voltage increased the liquid mass flow rate and droplet size instability.
