Abstract
The free vibration problems of a rectangular thick plate under arbitrary initial stresses are solved by the finite strip method. The initial stresses are taken to be a uniform extensional stress plus a bending stress. The effects of different boundary conditions and various parameters on natural frequencies are investigated. It is found that the rigid supported conditions have more significant effects than the soft supported conditions.
