Efficient storage server for near video-on-demand systems

Abstract

An efficient storage server with a novel data placement scheme for near video-on-demand systems is presented. The proposed storage server exploits the periodical broadcast property of a NVOD system, and the disk seek is almost eliminated so that the disk throughput can be promoted to a great extent.
