Abstract

This study focuses on senior citizens as the target group for font design. It sets the field in the visual display terminal (VDT) operating environment. By referring to the existing literature and research results, we not only find the current fonts with better legibility but also understand the visual problems faced by senior citizens and what is suitable for In addition to finding the existing fonts with better legibility, we know the visual difficulties faced by the elderly and what is the appropriate graphic design for the elderly and explore the relevant criteria of font design in depth. Then, through experiments to find similar numerical combinations and computer simulations of older people’s reading conditions, the strengths and weaknesses of existing fonts in mild and severe cataract environments were identified, and the elements of font design were analyzed and investigated. Finally, we hope to design an Arabic numeral font suitable for senior citizens and evaluate it through an actual operation.
