Abstract
Most of the data on the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) in thiosulfate solution are for sentisized conditions and were obtained from the U-bend test, slow strain rate, constant load, and constant extension tests using non-precracked specimens. Although crack propagation velocities was determined in these studies, only average values are reported. In this study, the SCC growth rate as a function of stress intensity factor in solution-annealed Inconel 600 alloy in thiosulfate solutions has been investigated using precracked specimens. The electrochemical behavior of this material has also been studied.
