title = "Engine room pipeline arrangement with consideration of equipments operability space by genetic algorism",
abstract = "A system trying to produce automatic pipeline arrangement for engine room by Genetic Algorithm (GA) is developed in this study. This system simplifies the equipments with complicated figure into rectangular fixtures, and adopts GA to search possible pipeline routes. With the application of objective function the most adaptive pipeline that not only avoids these fixtures but also provides less pipeline length and number of elbows can therefore be chosen. In addition, this study focuses on the ergonomic consideration of required space when maintenance and/or operation of equipment are carried out. The so-called equipments operability is treated as quantifiable constraints and quantified into numerical number of different value. Finally, main engine seawater cooling system of a real ship is applied for verification. The present method taking equipments operability space into consideration performs a more realistic pipeline layout than the one that does not consider.",
