Abstract

In this paper, the real-time transport protocol (RTP) along with the inter-control center communication protocol (ICCP) is integrated in anticipation of upgrading the power system communication performance. The approach begins with the development of a general TCP/IP library, then the message traffic of the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) linked with the RTP library is evaluated that includes the audio and video information transfer. To validate the effectiveness of this integration, different communication schemes were assessed, in which the efficiency of each communication link bandwidth and transmission delay are also examined. These assessment results can serve as a useful reference for the power system communication considered.
