The salient features of the turbulence models that are applicable to engineering calculations for turbulent flows with significant buoyancy effects are described. The focus is on the principles and the strategies, particularly the applicable equations and coefficients underlying each model so as to provide easy reference and comparison. References are made to those few cases where these models have been applied to heat transfer studies. The developments in other more advanced models are discussed. Among these advanced models are large eddy simulation and discrete vortex modeling.
