N2 - This paper presents a method for estimating the layered attenuation properties, based on the spectral shift of gated pulses from reflected ultrasound signals. This technique utilizes the propagating pulse having an approximated Gaussian-shaped spectrum, and the layered material be characterized by either linear and quadratic frequency dependent attenuation. Experimental results will be presented.
