ESTIMATION OF POOL BOILING CRITICAL HEAT FLUX FOR BINARY MIXTURES.

Abstract

A simple equation is suggested to estimate the pool boiling critical heat flux of binary system. The equation has one empirical constant, A, which may have different values for different binary systems. Values of A are evaluated to be 2. 1, 2. 2, 1. 7 and 0. 5 for the ethanol-water, n-propanol-water, ethanol-benzene and acetone-ethanol systems, respectively. These A values give satisfactory agreement between this empirical equation and the experimental data. One possible approach of improving this method of estimation is to replace the empirical constant A by a group of physical properties of the fluids, F, which account for the slowing down of bubble growth in binary mixture. This attempt of exclusion of the empirical constant was found to be not very successful.
