Abstract

In order to research the stress constitutive relation of viscous debris flows, under support of the latest large scale rheometer specially designed and made by the author, the rheological characters of natural viscous debris flow with gravel were measured. Contact squeeze pressure and slip friction play a major role between grains in the initial stage(du/dy/ < 10s-1)at low shear rate, the stress constitutive relation is described by power formula with stress dilution. The stress constitutive relation in the flow stage of high shear rate (10s-1 < du/dy <20s-1) is consisted of a term of zero order of shear rate for slip friction and a quadratic term of shear rate for inertial collision stress. The debris have rheological characters of the yield stress and shear dilatation.
