Facilitating High Level Cognitive Processes with a Mobile Authentic Support

Abstract

We designed learning activities supported by a mobile learning system to enhance students' cognitive processes. Students learned in class and then applied and analyzed new knowledge to solve real life problems by taking pictures of objects and describing them. This study carried out an experiment in which control students studied and completed learning activities using traditional methods while experimental students used the tablet PCs. Results show that learning activities supported by a mobile learning system are effective to facilitate students' cognitive processes and students' have positive perceptions towards the technology.
