Abstract

In this paper, we will propose a new 2D-FIDCT based on the Zig-Zag scanning of DCT coefficient sequences. This algorithm will reduce the number of multiplications and make the HDTV receiving system more efficient if the 2D-DCT coefficients are coded and transmitted progressively according to the Zig-Zag scanning.
