Abstract

Fatigue properties of magnetron sputtered Cu/Nb composite laminates with 40 nm individual layer thickness were determined. Compared to bulk Cu, over an order of magnitude increase in the stress to failure was observed. The ratio of the fatigue endurance limit to the ultimate tensile strength was about 0.35.
