Abstract

This paper presents a new method for synthesizing defect-free four-bar motion generators with two specified poses. The feasible regions for the fixed pivot of the driven link for two-pose motion generation with two specified moving pivots are identified using a geometric method. Each point on the feasible regions gives a defect-free four-bar linkage that satisfies design requirements. The proposed method can also be applied for identifying the feasibility of the selected moving pivot of the driven link for three-pose problems. Three examples are given to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.
