Abstract
Computer application for fed-batch culture of Brevibacterium flavum for L-lysine production has been developed. The organisms are auxotrophic mutants for L-homoserine and are resistant to S-(2-aminoethyl)-L-cysteine. Adaptive control is applied for substrate addition. The sugar concentration is estimated using online respiratory measurement. During the period of fed-batch culture, the total sugar concentration is maintained at a given value. The cultivation strategy results in high productivity and high conversion yield.
