Abstract

The role of the radial head in load transmission and maintaining stability of the elbow joint has been controversial. Thus, recommended treatment for the fractured radial head includes non-operative, simple excision, and prosthetic replacement. Both surgical options have been reported to provide satisfactory results. The purpose of this study was to examine the load transmission through the proximal radio-humeral joint under various loading conditions and joint configurations.
