Abstract
Mechanical devices involving various types of elements can be transformed into corresponding generalized (kinematic) chains with only generalized (revolute) joints and generalized links. This paper presents a systematic process for this purpose based on the concept of generalization. The results of this work are of benefit to the creative design of general mechanical devices.
