Abstract
A novel ball-end milling without a helix flute (designated an elliptic ball-end mill) was introduced by Aoyama, Kishinami and Saito. The elliptic ball-end mill requires only two simple steps for grinding and one for re-sharpening, facilitating the process of manufacture. This paper aims to establish a mathematical model based on grinding parameters for the geometric modelling of the elliptic ball-end mill.
