Group Trip Planning Approach with Travel Time and Ratio Constraints

Abstract

With the popularity of wireless communication technologies and smart mobile devices, the researches and applications of Location-Based Services (LBSs) have attracted the attention of many scholars and industries. Group trip planning is one of active LBS topics. Although a number of related studies have been proposed, few of them deeply discussed the group travel constraints and preferences. In this paper, we address a novel group trip planning query based on the travel time and ratio constraints of a group. To solve this query, we propose an approach named Group-Trip-Mine to find the optimal group trip that best fits for the group preferences under the group constraints. The experimental results show that our proposed approach performs well under various group constraints and is greatly better than the algorithm extended by the single-user trip planning algorithm.
