Abstract
A general method to evaluate the harmonic power dissipated in lossy reactive loads connecting to semi-uniformly lossy transmission systems is proposed. The transmission systems as well as the lossy reactive loads are modelled by lossy reactive elements. By introducing the definition of 'normalized instantaneous power', the harmonic power levels can be evaluated under periodic excitations multiplied by exp gst with the time constant (-1/σ) constrained by the defined loss ratios. With arbitrary circuit topology, algorithms for evaluating the harmonic power levels are introduced for power systems with either a single type of load or multiple types of load. Examples using typical circuit configurations are presented to demonstrate its application to harmonic analysis in power systems.
