Abstract

Hg-1223 thick films on flexible Ni substrate coated with Cr(Ag,Pd) have been fabricated by a two-step spray/press process. The effect of possible interfacial diffusion between Hg-1223/Ni has also been examined. By properly adjusting the processing parameters, a self-field Jc ∼ 7×104 A/cm2 at 77 K has been achieved in these Hg-1223 thick-film tapes, comparable to that of the well-known BSCCO tapes prepared by the more complex powder-in-tube technique.
