Hierarchy of shaping a good old age: From absence of health limitation to mental healthiness

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore and develop a hierarchy of leveling quality of wellbeing to conceptualize good old age, from staying healthy to mental healthiness. The research method adopts field interview and archive analysis of 30 participants aged from 60 to 80 at Tainan city in Taiwan. The findings show that shaping a good old age has a sequence and every hierarchy are essential conditions in which Absence of serious health limitations is the fundamental condition and having autonomy and being useful, both of which are about mental healthiness. The proposed hierarchy of good old age inspire future advanced research of priority of wellbeing pursuit.
