Abstract

The pressure effect on the superconducting transition temperature Tc of the newly stabilized YSr2Cu2.8Mo0.2Oy and TbSr2Cu2.7Mo0.3Oy compounds has been examined under hydrostatic pressure. The pressure coefficient dTc/dP was found to be+0.84 K/kbar for YSr2Cu2.8Mo0.2Oy and +0.4 K/kbar for TbSr2Cu2.7Mo0.3Oy. These large positive values of dTc/dP suggest that the presence of Mo in the CuO-chain sites is crucial in the stabilization of the Sr-based 123 compounds.
