High-Sensitivity K-Band Dielectric Sensors Using Multi-Coupled Complementary Split-Ring Resonators

Abstract

This paper introduces a highly sensitive dielectric sensor designed for permittivity measurement in the K-band, specifically for substrate characterization. Through theoretical sensitivity analysis, an enhanced design with multiple complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs) in odd mode configuration improves sensitivity. Experiment results demonstrate an 88% improvement (from an average sensitivity of 4.2% to 7.5%), enabling effective detection of subtle variations in dielectric coefficients for relative permittivity values ranging from 1 to 10 in K-band applications.
