Abstract
This letter proposes an implantable wideband low specific absorption rate (SAR) antenna with a C-shaped, coupled ground design to cover the MedRadio band. This antenna is composed of a sigma-shaped monopole radiator and novel C-shaped design, which excites two modes and dominates the near E-field distribution evenly to achieve a low SAR. The proposed antenna is compact and measures only 560 mm3. The maximal peak value of the average SAR is 161 W/kg at an incident power of 1 W, and the SAR averaged over 1 g of tissue is lower than 1.6 W/kg when the maximal incident power of the proposed antenna is less than 10.1 mW, thus satisfying IEEE C95.1-1999 standards.
