In-plane vibration of Timoshenko straight-curved-straight hollow beam

Abstract

This work presents the governing equations for the in-plane motion of the Timoshenko straight-curved-straight beam of hollow type. An analytical method is presented to examine the vibrations of the structure. The orthogonality of any two distinct sets of mode shape functions for the in-plane motion of the structure is also derived. The effects of span number and radius of curvature of the curved beam component on the mode frequencies of the entire structure are investigated.
