Flow simulation is usually implemented with the assumed inlet boundary conditions for lack of the sufficient, required information at the inlet. This study demonstrates the influence of inlet boundary conditions on the computation of simultaneous momentum and scalar transports. Both effects of the inlet profile shape and inlet turbulence level were investigated and compared with the available measurements. It is found that the predictions using the assumed inlet boundary conditions in the usual manner yield significant errors in near inlet region, particularly for mass transport.
