Abstract

The modified Reynolds' equation, which is developed for non-Newtonian fluid obeying a power-law model, is treated with a new boundary condition at the beginning of the lubricating film. The hydrodynamic side leakage and other performance characteristics of the bearing are shown to be the function of the effective width ratio which depends on the starting condition at the film inlet. Presently, the results are obtained in the isothermal condition.
