Abstract

The present paper discusses the influence of the inertial forces on the gas-lubrication system. The perturbation method is employed to express the associated fluid properties in the case of the relatively small inertial forces. The Newton-Raphson algorithm is introduced to solve the nonlinear differential equation of film pressure if the mass flow rate is assigned by guess in advance. The comparisons of the results that include film pressure, mass flow rate, fluid velocity and applied load are presented to lay stress on inertia effect.
