N2 - In this paper, we examine how new CIO's education affects the association between knowledge management and firm's operating performance. Using OLS regression analysis, we find that the positive relationship between the effectiveness of knowledge management and firm's operating performance is more prominent when the firm's new CIO has a PHD degree. Our results therefore provide evidence that CIO's education facilitates the application of knowledge management.
